“Australians suffer the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Each year, around 1,200 Australians die from what is an almost totally preventable disease. Everyone can develop skin cancer; however, some people may be at higher risk than others, due to a range of factors.” (http://www.theozonehole.com) This is why Slip, Slop, Slap was created.
Slip, Slop, Slap is “one of the most successful health campaigns in Australia's history.” (http://www.sunsmart.com.au) “It was launched in 1981, when a cheerful seagull in board shorts, t-shirt and hat danced his way across our TV screens singing the jingle.” (http://www.sunsmart.com.au)

The jingle that is sung throughout the commercial is:
‘Slip, Slop, Slap!
It sounds like a breeze when you say it like that
Slip, Slop, Slap!
In the sun we always say 'Slip, Slop, Slap!'
‘Slip, Slop, Slap!

Slip, Slop, Slap!
In the sun we always say 'Slip, Slop, Slap!'
Slip, Slop, Slap!
Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat
Slip, Slop, Slap!
You can stop skin cancer - say: 'Slip, Slop, Slap!'
Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen and slap on a hat

In 1980, the original Slip! Slop! Slap! advertisement was produced and the reason that this commercial was launched, is because “melanoma rates were climbing and evidence of the link between UV radiation and skin cancer was mounting. The Anti-Cancer Council of Victoria approached broadcaster Philip Adams and the creative director of an ad agency came up with a campaign that would encourage Australians to protect their skin.” (http://www.sunsmart.com.au)
“The Slip Slop Slap slogan has become institutionalized as the core message of Cancer Council’s SunSmart program. The campaign is widely credited as playing a key role in the dramatic shift in sun protection attitudes and behavior over the past two decades.” (http://www.cancer.org.au)
“In 2007, the slogan was updated to Slip Slop Slap Seek Slide to reflect the importance of seeking shade and sliding on wrap around sunglasses to prevent sun damage.” (http://www.cancer.org.au)
Overall, it is an Australian brand of sun screen to help protect people’s skin from skin cancer.
